The Women of the World Poetry Slam (WoWPS) is an international poetry competition for poets who (according to the rules set by NPS, Inc.) live their lives as women.

Come watch a night of amazing poetry from poets who identify as women, and if you meet that criteria and would like to compete to be the Rain City representative at WoWPS, join us on the stage!

About Our Feature

Garfield is a Queer poet, warrior, organizer, and educator living in Seattle. He believes in the beauty of words and the power of story-sharing. He writes to empower others and to push imaginations to craft a better NOW.

Garfield is a two time member of the triumphant  Seattle Poetry Slam Summer team which won the Battle of the Word at Seattle’s premier art festival, Bumbershoot (2014 & 2015 ).

He is the 2014 Seattle Poetry Slam’s Individual World Poetry Slam representative.

In 2015 as coach and performer,  Garfield assisted in Seattle Poetry Slam winning the first annual Cascadia Regional Poetry Slam Invitational.

He is also the 2015 Jack McCarthy’s Evergreen Invitational Champion.

Garfield is the 2015 Seattle Poetry Slam Grand Slam winner and  represented Seattle Poetry Slam with his teammates at the National Poetry Slam Competition held in Oakland, California. In Oakland, he and his team qualified for Group Piece Finals and ultimately ranked 10th out of 72 teams in the nation for Best Group Piece Performances.

But mostly he lives, daydreams, and wanders lost around Seattle trying desperately to taste the salt in the air.
