Interested in representing Rain City at the National Poetry Slam? Come perform poems to qualify for a slot in our last semifinals! Interested in hearing amazing poetry? Come and experience poems being performed for a slot in our last semifinals! How is that for symbiotic?

Also, Rio Chanae is featuring and if you’ve not heard her poetry I highly encourage you to save this date. Five years from now when your friends are all “Oh man did you see Rio’s new poem on Youtube with 5 million views?” you’re going to want to be able to say “yeah, I saw her in person at Rain City and only paid 3 bucks!” and your friends are going to be like “no you didn’t!” and then you can whip out the chapbook you bought from her that night (i.e. this coming Wednesday… keep up with me, I’m time traveling) as proof. They may faint. And you know, that’s okay.

About Our Feature

Rio Chanae is a Seattle based musician and spoken word poet. Two time Seattle Poetry Slam representative at National Poetry Slam (2016 & 2017), National Poetry Slam semifinalist (2016), Seattle Poetry Slam Grand Slam Champion runner up (2017), and two time Bumbershoot Battle of the Word champion (2016& 2017). March of 2018 will mark her three year anniversary of preforming her first ever slam poem “If He Kisses You on the Forehead”. “The slam scene has been very kind to me in such a short time. I still have a lot of learning to do and a lot of love to give”.
