About Our Feature

About Bri G

Bri G is a Portland poet who is very excited to be organizing her first tour! Starting in Slam, Bri has been in competitions and read on stages and festivals across Portland including Literary Arts. Her work has been published in The Rising Phoenix review. She believes deeply in accessible art and helps facilitate the two local Slam Poetry scenes, as well as the occasional hosting of shows and community events in her home. She recently released her first chapbook ‘There’ s Room for You Here’ which touches on self-love, relationships, and god stuff. Bri is currently studying creative writing and publishing at PSU until formal education breaks her spirit. Most importantly she believes in you.

About Kate Leddy

Kate Leddy is a writer and mental health activist from Portland, Oregon. She grew up in Westchester County, New York and still has strong opinions about bagels. Kate has featured at various venues in Portland and represented Portland at the 2018 National Poetry Slam as well as the 2018 Individual World Poetry Slam. Her first chapbook,“Homesick Season”, explores nostalgia for people, places, and states of mind. Kate enjoys ice cream sandwiches, a good cleanse cry, and excitedly pointing out the only two constellations she knows. She is very excited
to be experiencing her first poetry tour!

Writing Circle at 6pm!

Before the slam, come to the writing circle – we’ll be at Jai Thai from 6pm-7pm, giving writing prompts and sharing our work in an attempt to help each other improve and get creative input! Drop in anytime before 7pm and join us!

How to Sign up!

Go to the stage, there will be slips of paper and a pen! Put your name in the tambourine to join the slam, and in the metal bucket to join the open mic!

About the Open Mic

You can do poetry, songs, even comedy: but we ask that you stick to no more than one poem/song, as well as keeping it at or under 3 minutes!

If you are Slamming

If you sign up for the slam, remember that you MUST be in attendance for the draw at 8pm! If you miss the draw, you will be given the first position automatically. If you miss that, you will be disqualified!
