Check out this amazing event next week from our sponsor partner Hugo House, featuring poets and writers from all over the state reading for a night that blends poetry with prose.
Hear poetry from Gary Lilley of Port Orchard (author most recently of The Bushman’s Medicine Show) and Ann Tweedy of Lake Tapps (The Body’s Alphabet), and prose from Spokane-based writers Sharma Shields (author of the 2016 Washington State Book Award-winning novel The Sasquatch Hunter’s Almanac) and Erin Pringle, author of the newly published collection of stories, The Whole World at Once.
Hugo House is the sponsor partner of Rain City’s upcoming Squad Slam, Seattle slam poets’ chance to replicate the magic of the National Poetry Slam. Squads of three poets will perform for the title of first ever squad slam champions — each poet has one of the three rounds and can deliver an independent or group piece with their slot. Scores will be tallied and the top squad (out of 90 points) will be crowned champion. Each of the winners will receive credit to take one free writing course at Hugo House.
